NFL PLAYERS INC. SEEKS NEXT BIG THING IN MOBILE GAMING AS IT LAUNCHES “MOBILE MADNESS CHALLENGE”
– Game Developers to Compete for Chance to Win an NFL Players Inc. License and $10,000 toward Social Media Marketing and Player Endorsement –

WASHINGTON D.C., March 20, 2014 – As the mobile gaming industry grows rapidly, NFL Players Inc. (NFLPI), the licensing and marketing arm of the NFL Players Association, is expanding the opportunity for innovation with today’s announcement of the launch of the NFL Players Inc. Mobile Madness Challenge. The competition will challenge developers to design an innovative mobile gaming concept featuring active NFL players for the chance to be awarded an NFLPI-issued license and $10,000 in credit toward social media marketing.

The competition, announced from the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, runs from March 20 through April 20, 2014, and is open to everyone from independent developers to established gaming studios.

Three finalists will be chosen to pitch their concept to NFLPI’s executive team. The winner will be granted a license issued by NFLPI for the 2014-15 NFL season, which would include various rights to NFLPI trademarks, as well as names, likenesses, uniform numbers, photographs, voices, replica signatures, and biographical information of active players. NFLPI also will award $10,000 in credit toward marketing the game via Activate, the group’s social media endorsement platform that allows active NFL players to promote the licensed product directly to their followers.

Competition entries will be judged on entertainment value, visual design, technology, controls, originality, and ability to effectively market the game, among other factors.
