Patrick Chung Gives Back to Young Musicians in Boston
New England Patriots Safety Patrick Chung Hosting Pep Rally for Second Year of Summer Music Academy for Real Teens
Chung Changing Lives and Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center invites public to pep rally to kickoff second annual Summer Music Academy for Real Teens (SMART)
BOSTON (June 25) – New England Patriots player Patrick Chung and Maverik of Jam’n 94.5 will host the Second Annual SMART Pep Rally on July 10 at Josiah Quincy School from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to officially kick-off this year’s program. The public is invited to celebrate music while they enjoy performances by Boston’s own Fame or Juliet, Phunk Phenomenon and special guest Louie Bello.
Chung Changing Lives, founded by Chung and his wife Cecelia Chung, along with the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, Inc. (BCNC) will host Summer Music Academy for Real Teens (SMART), for a second year. The six-week intensive academy allows a select group of 30 Greater Boston youth to learn from and work with professional musicians in building their music skills, all while developing lasting connections with others across geographic and cultural boundaries.
“We’re excited to welcome music students from all levels and backgrounds to join us once again for SMART,” Patrick Chung said. “Both of my parents were music professionals – my mother a singer and my father a producer. Because they followed their passions, they were able to give me the opportunities I’ve had to succeed. I’m thrilled we can offer the same opportunity for music students to follow their passions.”
The academy is designed for music students between the ages of 12-15 and from the Greater Boston area. The application process is closed, and selected applicants will be contacted in June. The program, taking place from July 7 through August 15, is free for all attendees.
The Second Annual SMART Pep Rally will take place:
Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 1 p.m.
Josiah Quincy School Auditorium
885 Washington St., Boston
