Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Your mental health matters — on and off the field. Through Cigna Healthcare's Employee Assistance Program (EAP), you, your eligible dependents, and household members have access to confidential support from licensed clinicians and work/life resources for a wide range of concerns. Everything you share is kept completely confidential — the NFL, NFLPA, and NFL Clubs are never informed of who uses this service.

List of Benefits
Provides benefits to vested players diagnosed with Dementia, ALS, or Parkinson's disease to help cover expenses directly related to their diagnosis.
- The Tax-Qualified benefit is eligible for distribution at the later of five years after your last credited season or age 35.
- The Non-Qualified benefit is eligible for distribution at the earlier of five years after your last credited season or age 45.

Available to vested players under age 65, the DHN provides 100% coverage for preventative care, up to $25,000 per year for primary care, and up to $25,000 per year for mental health care.

Available to vested players after their five years of Continuing Vets Coverage ends, the HRA can be used to reimburse a wide variety of IRS-eligible medical expenses. A Prescription Drug Card lets you pay for medications directly from your HRA account.
A range of benefits designed to support retired players as they transition out of the game.
- Medicare Supplement: Available to retired players age 65 or older who have Medicare Parts A and B and are enrolled in a qualifying Medicare Supplement or Advantage Plan.
- Counseling: 24/7 access to licensed clinicians for mental health, alcohol, and substance use concerns through the Employee Assistance Program, including up to 8 in-person sessions per topic. Available to former players and any dependents living in their home.

- Joint Replacement: Available to vested former players when deemed medically necessary by a board-certified orthopedic surgeon or rheumatologist. Call (800) 635-4625 to learn more or find out if you qualify.
Provides vested players with lifetime monthly benefits beginning at age 55. Payments can be deferred until age 65 for a higher monthly amount. The plan also provides survivor benefits to eligible spouses, children, and other beneficiaries.
Provides life, medical, prescription, and dental insurance benefits to vested former players. Vested players receive five years of Continuing Vets Coverage following retirement.
Distributions are available beginning on your 45th birthday. Note that IRS penalties may apply for distributions taken prior to age 59½.

Players with two or more credited seasons are eligible to receive a lump-sum payment 12 months following their last NFL contract. For more information, contact the NFLPA Benefits Department at (800) 372-2000 or benefits@nflpa.com.
The NFL Player Tuition Assistance Plan reimburses eligible players for tuition, fees, and books up to the maximum allowable benefit. Former players with two or more credited seasons are eligible if expenses are incurred within 72 months of the first day of the League Year immediately following their last regular or postseason game.
